SWK 455 Social Work Field Seminar I(RNL)

2 class hours, 2 credits. First course of a two-semester sequence taken in conjunction with field practicum. The purpose of the seminar is to facilitate students' integration of the educational experience in class and the field. During the Field Seminar, students will be supported in their learning in various ways. Students will discuss issues related to field placement and problem solve with their peers. Students will be introduced to a variety of topics including the NASW Code of Ethics, professional roles, cultural competency, effective interventions and documentation. Prerequisite: Senior Standing. SWK 300, SWK 302, SWK 305, SWK 311, SWK 312, SWK 350 and SWK 370.  In addition, student must meet the following criteria: Completed all general education requirements, an overall GPA of 2.5, a grade of C or better in all SWK courses, except SWK 350 where a B or better is required to advance. Pre- or corequisite: SWK 360 (if taken as a prerequisite requires a grade of B or higher). Corequisite: SWK 454.
