ELE 636 Electrical Machines and Energy Systems

2 lecture hours; 2 laboratory hours. Fundamental concepts and operational considerations of electrical machines and energy systems. Three-phase AC analysis. Power system representation. Synchronous generators/motors; induction motors. Single and three-phase transformers; substations. DC Generators/Motors; inverters. Fossil fuel vs renewable energy systems with an emphasis on solar and wind power systems.
